Cortona and the mysteries of the Etruscans… under the Tuscan Sun!

Discover with Le Ceregne Farmhouse Tour one of the best cities in Tuscany: Cortona, between Valtiberina and Valdichiana, just under the Tuscan Sun!

This tour takes you to discover Valdichiana, the widest valley in central Italy, dotted with lovely hamlets such as Castiglion Castiglion_FiorentinoFiorentino, Monte San Savino, Lucignano and especially the delightful little town of Cortona: its position on the top of a hill offers a breathtaking view over the whole valley.

This lovely hamlet, now world-famous as the setting of the best-seller “Under the Tuscan sun”, is the perfect place for a leisure stop and also boasts a glorious past: founded by the Etruscans in the 7° cen. B.C., Cortona gives you the chance of making a journey through the mysteries of the ancient civilization which constitutes the roots of Tuscan culture.

A film and a book in Cortona: Under the Tuscan Sun

“Under the Tuscan Sun” is a 2003 film American romantic comedy drama film written, produced, and directed by Audrey Cortona (2)Wells and starring Diane Lane. Based on Frances Mayes‘ 1996 memoir Under the Tuscan Sun, the film is about a recently-divorced writer who buys a villa in Tuscany on a whim, hoping it will lead to a change in her life. The film was nominated for the Art Directors Guild Excellence in Production Design Award, and for her performance in the film, Diane Lane received a Golden Globe Award nomination for Best Performance by an Actress.
Despite being well known for movies like “Under the Tuscan Sun” and “Life is beautiful” by Roberto Benigni, Cortona keeps its original lifestyle and quietness, which match perfectly our idea of slow living and slow travelling.
